Welcome to Slavic Voice — a local Slavic Community Election Guide

Empowering The Slavic Community Through Informed Voting

WHO WE ARE

Like many other Slavic immigrants, our community came to Spokane from different parts of the former Soviet Union in search of a better life. We love this city, but it saddens us to see it facing growing issues: rising crime, homelessness, a drug epidemic, increasing taxes, and the pressure our children face in schools. This is no longer the Spokane that once welcomed us. Unfortunately, more and more people are moving to other states like Florida and South Carolina in search of a better life. That's why we created "Slavic Voice," so our community can be heard.

To see change, we have to act—faith alone isn't enough. One effective way to make a difference is by electing city leaders who represent our values and share our vision for Spokane. That's why I started "Slavic Voice".
Spokane has a significant Slavic population capable of influencing local elections, yet we remain a silent majority. We need to change this.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to educate our community about upcoming elections, understand the measures being voted on, and personally meet candidates running for local office. By doing so, we aim to better understand what they stand for and whether they align with our beliefs and vision for Spokane. Eventually, we aspire to see members of our own community run for various city positions like city council, school board, and more.

Our Principles

We select candidates based on multiple factors, focusing on those who:

01

Embrace Faith-Based Conservative Values

We prioritize candidates who embrace faith-based values. These principles form our community's foundation and guide moral decisions. We believe such leaders are more likely to act with integrity, compassion, and responsibility toward all citizens.

02

Stand for Freedom

We support candidates who uphold the fundamental principle of freedom. This includes advocating for individual liberties, freedom of speech, and the right to pursue opportunities without undue government interference. We believe that preserving these freedoms is essential for a thriving and prosperous community.

03

Support Parental Rights

We advocate for candidates who champion parental rights. We believe that parents should have the primary role in making decisions about their children's education, health, and well-being. Candidates who support parental rights ensure that families have the freedom to guide their children's upbringing in accordance with their values and beliefs.

04

Promote Traditional Family Values

We support candidates who promote traditional family values. We believe that the family is the cornerstone of society, and upholding these values strengthens our community. Candidates who prioritize the importance of family contribute to policies that support strong family units, parental involvement, and the well-being of future generations.

05

Defend Constitutional Rights

We support candidates who are committed to defending constitutional rights. We believe that upholding the rights enshrined in our constitution is essential for the protection of individual liberties and the preservation of democracy. Candidates who defend these rights ensure that the principles of freedom, justice, and equality are maintained for all citizens.

06

Stand up for safe and secure community

We support candidates who are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. We believe that a safe environment is essential for families to thrive and businesses to prosper. Candidates who prioritize public safety work towards reducing crime, combating drug epidemics, and implementing policies that protect all citizens.

Key Initiatives

This election, four key initiatives are on the ballot that will directly affect your daily life and the long-term financial security of every household in our state.

YES on I-2066

This initiative is crucial for reducing energy costs. It repeals some of the most restrictive building and energy codes in the state, preventing the state from forcing homeowners to pay tens of thousands of dollars to convert their homes to all-electric heating and appliances. A "YES" vote keeps your choices in your hands, allowing you to decide what's best for your home and your budge

YES on I-2109

A "YES" on this initiative protects your hard-earned money by stopping a proposed 7% tax on personal assets and blocking the legislature's push for a state income tax. Without this protection, we could be facing an unprecedented financial burden that affects everyone, from retirees to working families.

YES on I-2117

If you’re feeling the pinch at the pump, this initiative is your answer. Voting "YES" could immediately lower gas prices by as much as $0.50 per gallon by repealing unnecessary taxes that drive up costs. Let’s keep gas affordable and give families a much-needed break.

YES on I-2124

This initiative making the WA Cares long-term care program optional for workers in Washington state. Currently, employees are required to pay a payroll tax to fund the program. If passed, this initiative would allow workers to opt out of the program and stop paying the tax. Importantly, those already receiving care under WA Cares will continue to receive their benefits without any changes. The initiative aims to give workers more financial flexibility and control over their participation in the program.
